Why did dev nerf the end of year promotion bonus? Topic

They didn't. It just depends on when your player had his most recent ratings update before you promoted him. If it was very recent, you won't see a bump when you promote him, although internally he probably did get a slight increase in his ratings that weren't enough to show a full number increase.

Literally just promoted and at least half got a bump.

Same.

cshake, I think this might be about who you are promoting. How do you treat your new draftees/IFAs? Do you start them in rookie and move them up one level every season? I know that a lot of people do. I don't follow this philosophy. Also, what are their ages? 24-25 year old position players are pretty much done developing. Pitchers can sometimes go 2 or 3 seasons further. The DITR equation changes that slightly. But still, a 25 year old DITR position player is not going to move the needle very much, if at all.

To piggyback off this, did the prospects you promoted play in playoff games? Maybe their most recent cycle was close to the end of the regular season, and they didn't play in any more games to receive another bump.

I'm not seeing nearly as many end of season bumps but I still get a few. Usually promote once all of my minor league teams are done. Bumps seem smaller too.

Players used to get one last ratings bump if you promoted them at the end of the postseason. Why did dev get rid of this?
There have been no recent changes to HBD regarding this, as others have stated it depends on who you promote and what the coaching staff looks like at that level.

This is actually a huge frustration with the engine, and I've noticed in the last few seasons it's gotten worse. It's ludicrous to think that a 24-year old stops developing, and maybe only gets 1 or 2 points better. Players continue to get better IRL up until their early 30s, some even after that.

This is the #1 factor I've noticed. And why you should make sure your AAA or AA team is always playoff bound so that you can promote your studs from the lower minors if those teams didn't make the playoffs.
