D2 versus D1 recruiting question Topic

Hey all - as I’m trying to learn the recruiting subtleties I have two questions and

The first one, if both a D1 and D2 team in RS1 are listed as moderate for a recruit, will the D1 team always be shown higher up on the list even if they are behind until RS2 starts and the real value for the D2 team is revealed?

The second is, and I know this changes based on a ton of factors like prestige and preferences, but say you’re an A- D2 team versus a B- D1 team with the same preferences. Is there a ballpark estimate of how much more valuable an AP point and HV is for the D1 versus the D2 team. I mean is it like 1.5x or like 4X? I’ve won a few battles like this with late signing recruits, but I really have no clue as of this and a better understanding of both questions would help me understand when to get involved or continue to push when a D1 team comes on hard late after I’ve put a lot of attention in.

Thanks in advance! Fun game.

1) They’re listed alphabetically. Division doesn’t matter within consideration category. If the D1 is listed as moderate behind a D2 in RS1, the D2 is in the lead in effort credit. But if the player wants to sign in the first period, all the D1 team has to do is *sneak* into signing range, and that’s when you’ll see a battle won with no Very High teams.

2) Ballpark is closer to 4x than 1.5, I think, but others could give you a closer guess than I could. I think more in terms of how big the prestige window is within which teams can challenge each other and get in range with equal effort and preferences, That window is roughly 1 and 2/3 prestige grades, maybe just a little narrower. But there is a prestige bump between divisions too, which you have to account for. So in other words, for D2 A- to get into range on a recruit a D1 B- is in on, you are looking at more than a 3 grade window, so you will need significant advantages in preferences, and/or simply spend much more effort just to stay in the hunt for the player.

Thanks so much! This was very helpful to help get a deeper feel for recruiting. Really appreciate it.

Something to keep in mind, other than the first day or so of recruiting, “someone” (as in, a school) is ALWAYS very high if a battle is taking place. So in the case of a D2 school and a D1 school both “showing” as moderate, then that proves that the D2 team is actually very high at that moment. And Is just capped by the division issue. (Assuming it’s a D1 pool player).

if a D1 is listed at high and the D2 is at moderate, again, the D2 is actually the very high team. If you follow my drift
