MAJOR LEAGUE of PROGRESSIVE BASEBALL (MLPB DYNASTY)

Co-Commissioners: deer454 & prydeen3

This league is based on the Advanced Progressive Players Association (APPA) which was founded by jrnyfan01 with the initial draft in 2005. The league is still going strong with a number of committed and core owners.

Prydeen3 and I are co-workers who were looking to create a similar league for the purpose of a new 50-player initial draft – the 2005 draft was an incredible experience!

With deep rosters, this league relies on knowledge of prospects and dynasty league formats.

In addition, we intend to run a free fantasy league on ESPN or Yahoo in the offseason to keep everyone engaged, communicating and tracking their players in real time – we expect solid trade activity in the SIM offseason (aka the real MLB season)

LEAGUE RULES
  • 50-player rosters
  • Player pool: any current member of an MLB affiliated organization or player with a previous SIM eligible season
  • Teams may keep up to 25 SIM eligible players to the next season
  • Teams may keep up to 25 non SIM eligible players to the next season
  • Following each draft, extra sim eligible players will be part of AAA and we will use as many AAA spots as the SIM allows
  • No fake AAA players permitted (they can be used to balance in-season trades)
  • Transaction deadline will be set at the end of the regular season to allow teams to maximize player fatigue issues
  • Traditional league format with 3 divisions in each league and 4 playoff spots (3 div winners + wild card)
  • Current stadiums only, which will be selected as part of the initial draft
  • Home city will be based on the stadium drafted
  • Partial seasons is up to each owner
  • DH in AL only (this is likely changing for 2022!)
  • No waiver wire
  • Win floor of 40 games
  • Win floor penalty: offending team drafting at the bottom of the lottery in round 1. If two teams fail to reach the floor, the team with more wins will draft ahead. Example: Team A wins 39, Team B wins 38. Team A picks 7th, Team B picks 8th, the other six teams go into a lottery for the first round. Starting in round two, Team B picks 1st, and Team A picks 2nd, followed by the third worst, fourth worst, and so on

DRAFT (following each SIM season)
  • Any player with a prior SIM eligible season or currently signed in a Major League organization is eligible to be drafted in initial draft
  • First round draft order to be decided by lottery among the worst 8 teams for picks 1-to-8 and a separate lottery for picks 9-to-23 will be decided by overall record (worst to best) with the champion picking 24th
  • If teams are tied in the lottery, their “ping pong palls” will be added together and distributed evenly
  • Lottery will be conducted in Minneapolis St Paul on random.org in a transparent format (potentially YouTube Live)
  • All remaining rounds determined by W-L record in reverse order
  • Tie-breakers decided by expected winning pct. with lower team drafting first
  • Every franchise is awarded a default of 10 draft choices with additional draft picks awarded based on how many players are needed to reach 50 roster spots following cuts and trades
  • Teams may trade any of their 10 draft picks even if they do not intend to cut that many players, any draft pick after the 10th round may not be traded
  • An add/drop period will be conducted following the conclusion of the draft with a predetermined start time by the commissioner, communicated late in the draft so everyone has notice
  • Draft picks may be traded 1 year in advance following the completion of a SIM season (2021 draft picks can’t be traded until the completion of the 2019 SIM season)

DRAFT LOTTERY (random.org)
  • Pick 1: 30 percent (numbers 1 to 30)
  • Pick 2: 20 percent (numbers 31 to 50)
  • Pick 3: 15 percent (numbers 51 to 65)
  • Pick 4: 9 percent (numbers 66 to 74)
  • Pick 5: 8 percent (numbers 75 to 82)
  • Pick 6: 7 percent (numbers 83 to 89)
  • Pick 7: 6 percent (numbers 90 to 95)
  • Pick 8: 5 percent (numbers 96 to 100)

we need ONE owner for the MLPB for the 2022 season, we have been working towards finalizing our ownership group and finally had resolution to the last franchise spot.

It's a great group of owners, the league was built on a foundation of the APPA, a current progressive league that started in 2005 and is still going strong.

This is a fun, active dynasty league that features year-round trading - come join us!

the above roster is the 50-man team; new owner can make cuts prior to the draft, but must get the SIM-eligible roster down to 25 or less; and can keep as many prospects (or injured non-SIM MLB players for example Michael Conforto or a Tommy John pitcher, etc).
