Spicing-up Open Leagues: 2 Options? Topic

Since OL's continue to be popular and since Champions Leagues are floundering and foundering again, how about giving people a choice? This for example:

1. Open League A: If you've never done an SLB season, you get only the style presently featured.

2. Afterward, while you can still choose OL-A (or maybe not, after you've won 5 World Series and are ready to do Champs Leagues!) but you may also choose Open League B:
  • DH, Average AAA, 26 man rosters, same 80M cap (emphasized that since I know some are higher-cap biased; the AAA makes up for the financial need for 26 men and DH) and otherwise, the same.

Funny thing about the DH rule MLB-wide now. I used to be firmly against it, but when they made the switch in the NL, it's like oh well, too bad pitchers can't hit and too bad managing decisions aren't as complicated, but... might as well....

EDIT: I may have to offer this as a Theme League and see who's interested.

I’d be interested in that theme. Would say that the 1.6mm WW money should stick around too since the wire is so bad these days.

I’d argue the decisions are harder with the addition of the DH. You don’t have 100 years of tradition making the decisions for you

Anyone else have a preference about the $1.6M about the waiver wire?

I have about 0 preference either way. I s'pose it's in OL's so beginners can still adjust their teams after AAA was snatched away... but... it could be looked at as sort of realistic to MLB for teams that aren't over the barrel in real life.

As for DH in MLB, pitching has gotten so technology-aided good that batting seems to need all the help it can get. (I wish more batters were trained in Ted Williams' old school, with a little Charlie Lau for those who are helped by it. And let's hope the electric eye at the plate finally gets to the bigs.)
