So I redshirted a recruit with a decent work ethic, and he didn't accept it. I am not concerned about the tiny work ethic loss as his remains fine, but if I don't undo the redshirt, will he continue to lose work ethic or will there other negative outcomes?

The one time I took the initial work ethic hit and kept the redshirt on, there were no further repercussions. Others may have had different results.

there are no further consequences, if the initial work ethic hit is acceptable then you are clear. by not playing, his rate of improvement will be lower than normal freshman (or whatever he is), but that is not really a product of not having any playing time.

note - i am assuming you do not have any outstanding promises to this player (playing time, starts), that would be broken.
