Just did a quick analysis of my ten teams. The following is their record since the half-way mark (81 games) and what their chances are of advancing:

22-26 (still above the cut-off)
22-26 (still above the cut-off)
19-29 (still above the cut-off)
19-29 (will be lucky to advance)
20-28 (needs to play at a .667 clip to advance)
16-32 (it would have to take immaculate involvement)
20-28 (it would have to take immaculate involvement)
13-35 (not a snowball’s chance)
18-30 (not a snowball’s chance)
16-32 (not a snowball’s chance)

My best team in the round (my ONLY good team in the round) is unbalanced. $77M for offense and only $48M on pitching.

Yep, I just checked - this team is ranked 2nd in scoring and 24th in pitching.

I have no idea why the SIM-Gods are hating me in this tournament. This round with ten teams, I was hoping for at least seven of them to advance on. Three weeks ago after the 81-Game mark, I had five above the cut-off line and two just below, so I was liking my chances.

Since then, every one of my teams has been playing below .500 - and some of them are playing below .400 (if not .300). Every one of them. I've been trying to figure this game out for nearly twenty years and I'm no closer to doing it now then I was in 2004. I'll be lucky to have two or three teams advance...

Don't worry juice. I will transfer a few of my teams over to you - I am currently at 18 teams advancing (5 missing). I'm fine with as few as 14 teams (2 per league). Of course, if your last place teams keep beating my teams on the bubble, there are fewer teams for me to transfer.

Just had a session where my teams went 1-8 in 1-run games (only win when two of my teams played each other). And I almost hit every different 1-run score. Of course, despite a 9-14 record in the session, I easily outscored my opponents.

Scores
'48 Indians lost 1-0
'64 White Sox lost 2-1
'14 Red Sox lost 3-2
'02 Blues lost 4-3 (lost to my '06 Cubs team)
'74 Reds lost 5-4
'24 Senators lost 5-4
'15 Cubs lost 6-5
'98 Braves lost 9-8

Just realized Round 3 will be finishing up after 5/24. It just so happens I'm going out of town that morning and won't be back until the evening of June 1st. I'm not sure what I can have set up before I leave (maybe nothing) but I'll do what I can. If nothing else, folks can just enjoy a nice week off over the Memorial Day weekend without worrying about their teams.

It's not a terrible situation honestly, because we'll have the WISC deadlines that week and people can use that time to finalize and set up those rosters before launching into your drafts.

We could at least spend the week or so getting the top 14 picks drafted.

I know people get tired of me whining about my inferior teams, but this has got to be a historical run of bad...

Honestly, without going back and double-checking all of these games, I do believe that since the 81-Game (Halfway) Mark, my ten teams have only finished a round "over" .500 ONCE. In other words every day since then and all three rounds of those days (except for I think once but I could be delusional), my teams have finished either 1-9, 2-8, 3-7, 4-6 or (rarely) .500. That's over three weeks, folks. I used to have a team that had hopes of finishing in the Top 14 at the end. They're still tied with another of my teams as being "my best team" and guess what their current record is? How about 72-77. Yeah, of ten teams, that's my best team record - 5 games UNDER .500.

Okay, enough. You'll hear no more from me about this round. All I can do is laugh now...

That is a pretty convincing way to prove you aren't sneaking any personal advantage into running these tournaments!

LMAO - so true!

Trying to squeeze out a few wins as the season winds down, we put up our worst session EVER. Not just this tournament, not just this round... EVER

My 23 teams just went 4-19, including 7 one-run losses.

Excuse me while I go shove a fork in my eye.

Now, I know these aren't the exact same rosters, but in every instance where my team is involved, my team's record is significantly worse than the other team's record.

Tales of two halves can be interesting. I had a lot of teams bunched around .500 at the 81-game mark, but I won't have any teams all that close to .500 in the end. Two of my middling teams at the halfway point have had strong second halves, with one running away with a division. And two of them tanked to become also-rans.

League 1st 2nd Playoffs?
7 47-34 41-38 Won Division
4 44-37 47-32 Won Division
6 43-38 43-36 Clinched WC
10 40-41 47-32 1 game back
1 40-41 33-46 Ha!
9 39-42 34-45 Ha!
5 38-43 50-29 Won Division
8 38-43 38-41 Ha!
2 35-46 38-41 Ha!

Just had a mediocre 12-11 session. Nothing to see here, right?

Nope. I went 4-8 in 1-run games. And those eight losses include two 9th inning losses, two 8th inning losses, 3-extra inning losses and one game where I was up 6-1 with '78 Guidry pitching but gave up 6 runs (5 unearned) in the sixth inning after errors by Munson and Graig Nettles*.

Of my four 1-run wins, two games I was up early and held on. One game, I won in the 9th by scoring 4 runs off a pitcher with a 7+ ERA, and one game I won in extras.

*Oh, I forgot to mention that Nettles leads the league in fielding% at 3B by a wide margin (.987, only 4 errors).... second best is .980 / 9 errors. His 4th error of the season cost me the game.

For my sanity, I need to stop reading boxscores.
