Site availability explanation and remedy ... Topic

We as a community are due a better explanation as to the cause and response to the weekend site outage.

Personally, I was prevented from accessing the website from late Friday night to midday Sunday. During that time, one of the worlds in which I am a commissioner was approaching the Rule 5 draft. Saturday was the day to protect prospects and Sunday was the draft. Because the outage affected many owners, more than a handful of prospects who would have been protected. I was told by admin that there were no remedies to this situation and it was up to me, as commish, to facilitate and remedies. I submitted a ticket midday Sunday and received no response until Monday morning. I was told that since the Rule 5 draft had transpired, there was no way to roll back our world so owners could protect prospects.

Unacceptable from a customer service point of view. The owners in my world are angry. Yes, we will all get a free season because of this issue, the only help admin offered (and it was only an offer until I accepted it). A quicker response to my ticket would have potentially prevented this.

I am not like others here who think those responsible for HBD and WIS are not trying. I do think they are overwhelmed. However, I do believe there needs to be more transparency. There had to be an event that triggered all of this, some sort of update. I don't use ad blockers, so why was my access affected? I do use Chrome.

Hopefully there are some lessons learned (being learned) from this situation.

Hello,

The issue was reported and worked on Saturday later in the morning. The devs worked through Saturday and into Sunday (both of whom are fathers on their day off) to get this issue resolved. The issue came from Google analytics and was something that took some time to troubleshoot since it wasn't the site itself. Since it wasn't the site itself there weren't any error logs or notifications available to help resolve the issue. Workarounds and updates were posted to the site locker pages as best as possible since it seems the locker room pages were unaffected. There are certain aspects of the game that cannot be simply "undone" and we understand that is unfortunate and very frustrating at times. I assure you that all staff was working very diligently to get this issue taken care of and apologize that the issue wasn't resolved as timely as everyone would have hoped.

Thanks for a little more insight into what happened. I never questioned the effort to find out what the issue was or how to correct it. Like many others, I wish a pause had been put on the game at the point this issue was realized and how widespread it was. A lot of the headaches would have been prevented. Everyone would have understood a pause.
