Signing Two Ineligibles in Div-1... Topic

Hey guys,
If my Div-1 team signs 2 ineligible players, what is the result?

1. One won't show up to school, but would i get to choose which one of them stays?

2. If i get no choice, is there a rationale or probability as to which one stays, like the higher-rated player, or the player that signed first?

3. If both are signed in RS 1, what are the odds that one if them will boost their grades and become eligible by the time RS 2 ends? Has anyone ever run the numbers?

Thanks.

Option 4. Both could show up to campus. I just signed two ineligibles at Georgetown last year. Both remained ineligible and both showed up.

I remember someone else posting the chances that they'll become eligible and I've found that its fairly accurate. The easy way to remember it is take the digit after the period (2.x) of their HS GPA and use that for the percent chance they qualify.

For example, a 2.3 HS GPA would be a 30% chance. A 2.8 would be an 80% chance. The caveat being that most of the season (and opportunities to become eligible) have already passed by RS1 so the chances that they qualify are a quite a bit lower. Meaning that a 2.3 might have a 30% chance to become eligible over the course of the season, but by RS1 it might only be a 10% chance (or however the math works out).

Can players become eligible at any time during the season or only during active recruiting periods?

they can become eligible anytime during the season they are recruited when you get the emails notifying you of them passing gpa requreiments.

once they show up the following season they are ineligible for the entire season no matter what and don't develop.

I signed two in a Seton Hall rebuild. They both showed up and stayed ineligible. Both turned out great. I found it a great strategy to get better players.

the part my comment refers to here is super old (2021), but just figure its good context for the thread... there used to be a bug where you could only have 1 ineligible report to campus. this was not intentional (allegedly) but it was in place for well over a decade, and was only fixed a few years ago. i bet there are still folks who don't realize you can sign two ineligibles now (well, you could always sign them, but they'd never both show up...)
