The WIS Championship involves 24 owners, each playing in 6 leagues (w/ different themes) That’s over 2,300 games played to determine the best owner/coach!

Who is the best SIM Football owner in WIS?

To be considered the best, you need to be successful in a broad range of leagues and themes. This tournament will absolutely determine who the greatest WIS owner is. The champion will have to put together 6 solid teams over a 2 month time period. Serious WIS owners only. Here’s how it will work:

Field will be limited to 24 owners.
80 of the best and most active owners will be invited. The first 24 to sign up in the forum will be accepted. There will be a waiting list if necessary. (6 season pack must be purchased)

Round 1: There will be 4 different themes we’ll each be involved in. 2 leagues will be started at approximately the same time. After those 2 leagues end, the next 2 leagues will begin. Points will be awarded based on wins and playoff success. The following standard point formula will be used:

(Points = Regular season wins + 1 point - Playoff wins + 2 points - Win Division + 3 points - Make the Playoffs + 5 points - WIS Championship won + 8 points.)

Round 2: There will be 1 Theme League. Owners will be ranked 1 to 24 using point formula. Rankings will be used to determine Division placements. This is to reward the owners with higher points from the first 4 Leagues played. The Division alignment will be the following:

Round 3: There will be 1 final theme league. This will most likely be a Draft League. A slow Draft will take place in the Football Forum. The 24 owners will be ranked 1 to 24 again. The total points from the first 5 leagues will determine rankings. Rankings will determine the Draft order. Modeling from the NFL, worst to first will be used. Meaning, the #24 ranked owner will get 1st pick, #23 will get 2nd pick and so on to the #1 ranked picking last. However, different from the NFL, this will be a Snake Draft. More details about this will be posted in the forum under WIS Tournament League 6. The following tie breakers will be used for Rankings in case of any ties:

1. Championships won

2. Playoff wins

3. Regular season wins

4. Best single team overall point total.

5. Second best single team overall point total

6. Cont. from above

As far as prizes, the overall winner will receive a $100 WIS gift certificate. (The prize is nice, but what we’re all really after is the recognition of being the BEST!)

As far as themes go, different cap levels will be used. There will be 1 low cap of 55M and 1 high cap of 90M. The others will fall somewhere in between. There will be 1 Draft League (in final round)

If you are interested, please post here. The League numbers will be private. If accepted into tournament the League number will be sent to you through SiteMail. I don’t expect that we will start any time real soon. Hopefully we can get the word around and get this tournament going. I would love for it to be an annual competition that could grow over the years. Themes will be posted shortly.

Interesting...I'm in. Let's see if we can get owners to participate. Long ago, there seemed to be more involvement, however, in recent times and due to the lack of overall updates to SIM League Football...owners began disappearing. So, today we find leagues taking almost 2 weeks to fill up, whereas before, the same open leagues took about 3 days to fill up. So, we are at an apex of change...I'm hopeful this year will bring some new options to offensive and defensive packages. More in-game-controls such as: Blitz on a particular down and yardage, play aggressive on passes (maximize DEF interception ratings), Soft Zones for past heavy offenses, QB Spy options for running QB's, Usage categories where owners can determine the percentage of how players are used (such as primary receiver and secondary receivers get 80% of all passes...sort of like Sim Basketball), and etc.

With all that said, I'm interested and would like to see where this goes! :-)

All very true babykong. Hopefully a lot of those changes come about. I know the Dynasty Gridiron has a lot more owner control for everything. Most of that could be implemented into the Football Sim. Either way, super happy to have you aboard if it happens. One of us will send you the first two theme league numbers when they are available.

Hey grayfoxx, the first theme is a 70M cap league. All players and team units must be from 40s, 50s, or 60s. It is listed on the Theme Leagues page now. There is no WW or duplicates allowed. The second theme is in the works. It is going to be a Franchise theme league. 80M, no WW or dups, No Defense, OL, Special Team over 80 Skill Rating. Home Field must be field used by the defense from the year being used. Would be very happy to have you in the tournament too grayfoxx!

15 is the over/under number for the amount of owners who will signup by the 4th of July.
I will take the under.

The College league took *over a year* to fill. And that was with owners running just 1 team.
