Curious if anyone has looked at correlation between 3B coach and stolen bases/baserunning. Just looking at last season there seems to be very very little correlation between 3B coach and stolen bases. Not sure how to measure extra bases taken/thrown out on the basepaths to 3B coach.

Curious others experience.

My understanding is coaches affect the development of your players, but not in game performance. So there shouldn't be any correlation.

If this is true, then what is the point of having 1B/3B coaches at the ML level? If this is true, then why are there no 1B/3B coaches in the minors where most baserunning skills develop? If this is true, then I should be able to spend the bare minimum on terrible 1B/3B coaches and it will have no effect on my ML players who are already developed and no effect on my ML games, right?

What if Coach Hiring is an almost entirely cosmetic part of the game? A distraction that plays out in mis-allocation of budget? A part of "Offseason" that gives otherwise idle hands something that resembles gameplay? Or as I call it, a make-work project?

I can't speak for the other coaches, but the Fielding coach will effect your major and minor league teams when it comes to their fielding ratings. I have seen a FI in the 50s cause major damage to players.

My assumption was 1B/3B coaches worked liked Fielding coaches and had a role in SPD/BR development across your entire organization ML and MiL.

I swear I'm not making up that comment about coaches affecting development but not performance, but I don't see anyone in this thread agreeing with my comment. Can anyone weigh in on if my comment about coaching is accurate?

Interesting and thanks for educating me as I had assumed they helped in game! Should I look at bench coach for in game base running correlation then? Or is there no correlation to in game performance for base running to coaches?
