Which do you expect to perform better? Topic

I've found myself with a few pairs of pitchers with extremely similar ratings, they're not exactly the same though and I'd love to get a sense for what you all value. In both cases the players are young and projections are similarly similar. Again, it may be splitting hairs but what say you, which would expect to perform better (if only slightly) during the innings they pitched?

COMP 1: Both young, left-handed SPs
Dur Sta Ctrl vL vR K GB p1 p2 p3 p4 p5
23 95 85 77 54 90 76 92 73 59 41 0
22 84 82 78 61 41 74 80 75 60 48 0
Player A: Better first pitch and more Velocity (K)
Player B: Slightly better vR

COMP 2: Both young, left-handed RPs
Dur Sta Ctrl vL vR K GB p1 p2 p3 p4 p5
67 27 82 74 67 92 85 84 71 29 0 0
87 30 83 73 64 92 55 85 81 0 0 0
Player C: Much better groundball/flyball rating, has an extra pitch but very poor
Player D: Second pitch better, no poor third pitch

Thanks :)

They're all lefties with low vRH which would put them at the back of my bullpen, lol

This guy is better than all of them and has near a 4.9 career ERA

Players B & D would be my choices and I'd take B, C or D over the guy you believe is better than any of them. Splits have become more important and under 60 vR seems to get punished more. Remember you need a mix of righties and lefties in your rotation & bullpen but around 2/3's (+/-) of the batters will be hitting from the right side.

The SPs are interesting... A has better stamina, which means less in-game fatigue, but A also has very wide platoon splits, which can be exploited by thoughtful owners. I'd expect either would be a credible SP5.

C is better than D by about a quarter of a run a game, but you'll get fewer innings out of him. Either is acceptable as the 11th man in a bullpen.

I like brianplath's guy about 0.2 ERA better than any of them... you can win a championship with his guy as your SP4, although SP5 would be preferable. Boston (AL) is a hard environment but I suspect less than optimal defense contributed to the ERA there; note that with a different owner in the NL he just had a full season ERA under 3 (that's a fluke, but 3.75 in SLC (NL) is reasonable to expect).
