You can't increase a minor league offer; you can only add a Spring Training invite to improve your offer.

thank you!

It's a flaw in the system or just a poorly worded message. Even if you make an offer equal to other bids, it's a crapshoot and may come down to the SIM deciding which team has more opportunities for advancement at the position.

In case you don't already know: many owners don't maintain their minor leagues, sign their draftees, or promote their players. Either through neglect, or saving money to spend on IFAs. Which leads to a scramble to hoard minor league free agents. If too many of these owners are in your world, and you already have adequate staffing in your minors, you'll end up with very little chance of signing a minor league free agent, because those other owners' depth charts are showing zeroes.

If it's a minor leaguer that has a future with your team and has a shot at the big club you could always offer him a major league contract. It starts his arb clock ticking and costs you more $$$ but you don't have to put him on the 40 man.

The "arb clock" is major-league service time. So that part of this statement doesn't click. The rest of it is true, but an unlikely route to take. Usually guys like this aren't worth paying 6 times what they are asking.

Likely, sallyleaguer meant "option clock" rather than arb.
