There were far less games in a season but there is a data base as there is for 2020 for many important players over many seasons and more if you include the games i think in Cuba. It would need extrapolation a leap of faith as in 2020 but I would like to see it done for key players with the data as is. I would include playoff games as part of a particular season and off season games.

I hope this can get done. Maybe there will have to be some subjective reasoning. The Negro League all stars v MLB games could also be very helpful for seeing how the players did against each other. There were a lot of games to look at and there was a lot of consistency especially Satch and Feller.

This is still my deepest hope for the sim, to get these players into it in some manner. If MLB can do it, so can WIS! I know there are complexities to adding this stat base in but I think doing it in some, imperfect version is better than not doing it at all.

If it were up to me, what I'd do is make two versions of each player's season, one where you get the raw stats as they are and one where those stats are adjusted to a 162 game season. That way league commissioners could decide for themselves which version made more sense for their league.

But if that proved too complicated for some reason, even turning each player's career stats into a Diamond Legend version of that player, but then allowing people to use those in other types of leagues would be better than nothing. I want a team with Cool Papa Bell on it, gosh dang it!!

I feel like normalization would be difficult for Negro League players.

Actually there were 180 recorded games between the negro league all stars and mlb all stars. I forget which one had the edge but it was 51-49 %.
I think there are a ton of games with box scores.
So normalization can apply in equal manner.

I found another site that said that when the games did not have minor league players or just a few it was 55% Mlb to 45% Nlb. So there was no appreciable difference.

There were so many games that it should be no issue for normalization.

A series that goes 7 games has a larger win % split than 55/45. I doubt that the 1960 Pirates believe they won the WS by a landslide.

Negro League stats not only exist but have been integrated into MLB records and leaderboards. The game would be better by adding the major league NeL stats to the WIS database.

It would be fun to have Lefty Grove pitch against Josh Gibson with the pennant on the line.

Ditto and the stats of the elite negro league players was consistently on a par with their negro league stats and in head to head Satchel was better then Feller.
They had a lot of games. Feller was also excellent but Satchel was better.
The Negro League players did more then hold their own and there are more then enough games and stats between them to prove it.

Interesting point. Feller at times was called a racist but he encouraged and promoted the games and helped organize them. It is a controversy.

Babe Ruth was a big time public supporter of the Negro League players and had friendships with them with socializing including having dinners at restaurants and he was outspoken about wanting them to be in the majors. His relationships with them including sitting in the stands with them and the fans was so sincere and constant that he risked physical harm back then.

It was great that he lived to see Jackie Robinson and Satchel Paige get in. He died about 2 weeks after Satchel played his first game.
He is the greatest on many levels.
