Let's say you flip a coin 3 times, and do that a whole bunch of times. 1 out of every 8 times, it'll come up heads heads heads. Another 1 out of 8 times it will come up tails tails tails. So 2 out of 8 times, or 25% of the time, you'll have something that looks like a definite trend but is in fact just random variation.
Sometimes randomness doesn't look random. That doesn't mean it's not.
