Type B Free Agent? Topic

You keep referencing the fact that he's a 3-time All-Star, but under the real-life system he wouldn't get credit for any of those All-Star appearances. He was significantly worse in his most recent two seasons, and that's all the real-life system considers.

Obviously that's not why he's a Type B instead of a Type A here, but I just thought I'd point it out.

I'd rather have a type B free agent most of the time. People are very reluctant to give up draft picks to sign players.

Is the player's position not tied to the defensive ratings screen where you can adjust his position for your own defensive purposes?

If it is tied to that, what prevents people from changing a players position to change their group in the off-season to get a type A/B?

Only referenced it once!

And he had crappy first halfs of the season the past 2 years, was even batting under .200 when the season 6 all-star game came around, before rebounding in the second half. And I don't know about 'significantly' worse.

Meanwhile, his final season numbers each season dominated the final season numbers of the gents who did make the All-Star team. I'm not joking about him as the class of the position...its a world without a ton of 3b talent.

More fuel for my fire.

At the end of the FA period, Mr. MacDougal had signed the 2nd largest FA contract.

His contract: 5 years, $47.5M

The Type A contracts:

4 years, $26M
3 years, $20.4M
5 years, $75M
3 years, $15.6M
2 years, $6.4M

I know teams may be less inclined to sign a type A than a type B, because of the loss of a first round pick...but come on! 80% of the type A contracts are nowhere close to his deal.

It doesn't work that way. Changing pos. doesn't do any good.

Doesn't prove a thing, I've seen crappy players sign for more than 10m a season.
