Cool ... I was mostly just interested in the degree that degree poor scouting reports can be skewed, I just didn't have the patience to wait till draft day. I will be more than happy if I get one of my top 4 !

Going 0/0 wasn't really my point. My point was "If you're going to ignore scouting, zero it out. May as well use your budget for something else."

It's really too bad what he's considering isn't a black and white issue.

Anyone with split scouting like he has at some point has to consider if you can get a better player by using your lesser scouted prospects.

I agree. But that "some point" shouldn't come at the 9th pick.

You , but you didn't go very far. LOL.

Well I assume he came to the forums to gain some insight into how much to trust his low scouting.

Here's an opinion: Don't trust your 6 HS Scouting at all, instead focus more on the Current ratings for HS players and put them below any usable major league players you have on your list.

The biggest key to your original question is the fact that quite a few players will require being drafted in the first round and aren't worth drafting.

If the guy you're considering at #5 has at least a vR of 50+ currently, then he's at least decent. But just consider the tradeoffs of not knowing vs knowing better what a player will do.

Just a hypothetical situation, is it possible with very low scouting to have a player be better than what his projected ratings are and miss out on a monster?
