My team is in need of a good closer to possibly make my team the favorite to win the AL down the steetch and I found Stephen Shannon with 83 control, 97/95 splits, and pitches of 82 and 78 so he is pretty good.

His DUR is 43 and STM is 13, how will that play out in a full season?

I ask because im probably going to give up a decent prospect for him, but I dont want to get a guy I cant depend on to be able to pitch...

I don't know if he would really be an effective closer with those stamina/durability ratings, but he can definitely come in and shut guys down. I'd put his max pitch count no higher than 15, and he should be able to pitch once every couple of days. Sometimes he might give you a full inning, more often it might be 1 or 2 batters.

Take a look at his prior stats - in over 5 seasons, he's saved 60 of 73 games. I'd say he can close out a few games.

I went to go offer the trade and of course it violates season 14's payroll (currently in season 13) and i dont have any contracts that i can add to the deal because the only contracts that i have that last through at least seaosn 14 are major parts of my ml team...

IMHO,

He'd be effective when used but I wouldn't use up a roster spot on a guy who only throws 10-15 pitches and needs 3 days rest to recover. If used as a closer he'd have to be set at 9th inning only and probably wouldn't make it thru the inning if he doesn't get them 1-2-3. And you'd need a Closer B type to close when he's recovering. Plus with in game fatigue he'll start losing effectiveness by the 3rd or 4th batter he faces.

Not sure how good a prospect I'd give up for him, or how much I'd pay him in salary?
