I had a .500 record this year after 2 consecutive trips to the P.I. The record was expected as I was starting youth to build for the next 2 seasons. I have been running a Triangle offense w/ M2M defense for my entire 4 seasons. I am not happy with the defensive performance so I am looking to transition into a Triangle offense w/ H.C. Press-Zone defense. I expect to play a top 40 schedule and my conferance has been really tough for the last few years(4 in the National this season) I am looking to Recruit 2 centers w/ Reb & Ath. Prior to recruiting I have no centers on the roster so my probable starting line up is below.

Name Yr. Pos. A SPD REB DE BLK LP PE BH P WE ST DU FT TOT
Seth Tyrell Ju. PG 37 51 18 62 14 14 20 60 81 39 90 42 C+ 528
Dale Henry JU. SG 53 57 13 52 21 11 53 47 23 15 75 62 C- 482
Jeremy Beach So. SF 45 45 20 36 35 39 50 38 19 30 71 64 C- 492
Adam Knickerbocker So. PF 50 36 42 22 53 43 31 31 6 47 75 19 C+ 455
Kenneth Little Ju. PF 42 25 54 54 46 46 24 12 29 67 85 58 B 542

my bench would be the following.

Name Yr. Pos. A SPD REB DE BLK LP PE BH P WE ST DU FT TOT
Gregg Grove Sr. PG 41 36 10 44 24 13 40 66 56 13 78 76 B 497
Clayton Burns So. SG 27 62 33 34 11 8 45 31 22 40 80 64 B- 457
Sean Begley Sr. SF 56 25 24 69 39 24 39 44 20 41 87 40 C- 508
William Smith Ju. PF 28 41 44 46 24 25 36 19 38 21 65 67 C+ 454
Jeremy White Ju. SF 47 13 33 53 24 11 39 24 29 37 84 95 B 489

I am considering resinding the scholly for J. White and added the best player I can land just because I am expecting a fair amount of recruiting cash and I have the freedom to do so.

What kind of defensive output can I expect. Will the defense be better than seasons past? can I hide my weakness at SF on the Defensive end? can I expect and sucsess and maybe even a return to the P.I. If I land a solid center in recruiting should I alter my starters to get him in the lineup? If so who should I not start?any help or opinions would be considered as I am still learning the game and value the opinions of other coaches.

Your defensive performance doesn't look too out of whack to me. Pretty good overall, strong against 3s, pretty good TOs for MTM. FG% is a touch high, apparently from some interior D weakness (low ATH & walk-on at C help explain that). Your last couple of recruiting classes focused on ATH and SPD more, which will improve your D in the future.

IMO switching to HCP/Zone will make your D worse, at least short-term. I don't like combo Ds personally, especially D3, but I believe others have had success with them. Plus, your roster is probably set up best for MTM. If you want to switch to try something different, de-emphasize DEF rating in recruiting and increase the importance of ATH/SPD. Don't ignore ST, although it won't be as important for you as I'm used to making it (my Press teams are generally FB/FCP).

Personally, I would start Little at C and Knickerbocker at PF next season, probably regardless of what defense you play. I don'tlike having 2 guys the same position and class, so I would try to get a juco or transfer for one of my C recruits. Or you could reshirt one and play a PF there a lot.

I was thinking along those lines. I would like to leave the line-up as is. I like the look, a little week on the rebounds but athletic enough to help out in that department. I would like to add a Juco and a true freshman center.
