I've seen several successfull coaches starting "what's wrong with my team?" threads. I know in DI I've been questioning my teams' offensive woes every since potential started.

I took a look at Smith DI Big 6 conference FG%s for the 72 teams.

Average FG% = 44.05%

Median FG% = 44.00%

Actuals NCAA average for Big 6 conferences in 2009

Average FG% = 44.93%

Median FG% = 44.85%

Is this difference significant? Seble took down TK's old post about NCAA averages so I don't have a benchmark of what WIS used to be.

mully, one of the more stat-oriented guys could give you a better idea if that difference is significant or not.

However, I will point out that BCS teams in WIS play much tougher schedules than BCS teams in real life, so I'd imagine that would help account for a lower fg%.

mully, did you mean to say average and median? Average and mean are the same thing.

yes mott - you are correct

That doesn't seem that significant to me. That means, approximately, that for every game, the two teams combine to miss one more shot in WIS vs. real life.
