he's named almonte, so he's probably a lot older than he's telling you.

Definitely worth giving up your #25, especially if you think you have a chance to contend for the playoffs this season.

Hes worth it.

I'd consider trade alternatives before signing any FA.

The big issue here is that limiting Perez to 50 innings a year is absolutely criminal. He could triple that with the same effectiveness. That's just bad management.

Are you saying to use Perez as a LRA? Or still use him as a closer but bring him in sooner (7th inning instead of just the 9th).

Use him as your closer, set him available in the 6th or 7th, set a reasonable pitch count and de-select use closer in save situations only.

He will be lights out in the most important innings.

The combination of those 2 in the same bullpen would probably give you ~250 IP and could easily give you one of the best bullpens in the league.

You're unlikely to get a better player at the 25th pick and even then you'd have to wait for him to join the team anyway. I say go sign the guy if you are seriously good enough to compete.

Thanks for the feedback gents...gave me a totally different perspective which is greatly appreciated. Best of wishes to all.

The most effective bullpens I've had don't have a designated closer, but two top, top quality guys set as SuA, both throwing over 100 innings.
