I would go with player A only because of the huge difference in def. Also he also has a slightly better per rating which is a plus and the lower spd at the DII level is not as big of a problem as it would be in DI. I would just really want the better Def on the court against my opponent's starter.

Player A. They are an elite defender.

The one with the most fire in his belly.

Unfortunately, given that the DEF rating has very little teeth in this game, it's hard to say ANYONE is an "elite" defender. There are guys that SHOULD be, yes, but you certainly don't see them as often as the ratings suggest you should. Just my humble opinion.....

Emy's right, but I'd still go with A.

Have to be A - for the SG to have much better DE and a better PE, its a no brainer.

I figured player A was the better choice. Really was curious to see how much people favored speed over cores, guess it's not as much as I thought.

Well, in this case you're talking 20 pts of speed for 10 pts of ath, 70 pts of def and advantage at other cores. Speed is important, but that other stuff combined is not overcome just by 20 pts of sp.

I would pick B, as a matter of fact, I did pick B on a recent team, only diff was we ran combo - zone (a big difference). My B guard has been my best offensive player the past two seasons (and has a 3rd season ) - 90 something speed is nothing to trifle with in d2

here are the two players & stats:

OR I think your situation is different because Barra has higher passing, ball handling and per. With my situation the faster guy only has an advantage in passing.

might be, but your B guy is a very nice balanced d2 sg, with 92 stamina and some FT shooting, and d1 speed. your A guy is a d1 def, marginial pa, somewhat slo guard for d2, and your A guy's per will be limited by how slow he is (I predict the B guy will be the better 3 pt shooter)

in my case, the per is meaningless, as neither shot a 3 last season, and this season I berra shoot some, simply because my team PER was so bad, and there is no diff between 94 & 97 bh in d2 guards, both are in the 99th BH percentile, so the case is more similiar than you might think

Plus when I made the decision, berra was a soph and has improved quite a bit more than pederson, who was starting to max out at the start of his jr season.

anyhow, you were looking for another opinion, thought I would provide one, as you know, these cases are often very dependant on the other 4 guys on the floor, how you will play your bench, disto, etc.

Definitely appreciate the input especially with a comparison. Gives me something to think about for this upcoming season.
