3rd Baseman: Arm Strenght/Accuracy Topic

I have a vacancy at third base and am looking at potentially filling it with a minor league second baseman, who profiles to be a decent hitter but has below average defensive ratings for the position (78 range, 73 glove, 54 arm, 62 accuracy).

I've looked around a few worlds, but was wondering if any one could point me to examples where you've successfully used a guy with below average arm strength (but decent accuracy and a strong glove) at 3rd base. Obviously, it's less-than-ideal, but if I could skate by with slightly below average defense from the position, it would be a big help. However, if it is going to lead to a ton of throwing errors and minus plays, I'll have to look elsewhere.

Any thoughts?

I experimented putting him at 3B last season...mixed results but i'll take it and he'll stay there this year

He was projected as a CF but his range wasnt high enough. He still isnt a great defender but he does well enough to play and his bat more than makes up for 20-30 bad plays a year.

Might not be pretty but he's enough to get the job done. Barely. lol

Obviously he's a great bat and deserves to be in your lineup somewhere.

But if you ever start to wonder why your pitchers' ERAs ever seem artificially high, or why you may not win as many games as you seem to think you should, you may have an idea where to look. See where the "-" plays pop up in the box score and whether they are leveraged or not...

If you have plus bats everywhere, you may not be maxing out value as much as you think.
