I listen to sports talk radio all day long at work, and today 2 Chicago hosts were discussing the value of having great starting pitching in the World Series. One host stated the best SP tandem in World Series history was Koufax and Drysdale for the Dodgers. I wasn't born when they played, but I immediately thought of Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling for the D'Backs.
It really got me thinking: Who is the best starting pitching tandem to win an HBD World Series?
Post your players with links and the year you won the World Series. Post your players and their postseason stats for the year you won also. I'm interested in others success stories.
Also, how did you use your pitchers? Arizona in 2001 went with a 3 man rotation. Schilling got 3 starts, Johnson got 2 starts and 1 relief appearance in Game 7.
