BTW I signed him for only 6 million (its the end of the season). Im actually about to sign another really good Intl FA forsomewhere between 6-12 million.

I had before signing Moya the most available prospect budget by far, and still have the most prospect money.

So im in good shape.

he'll do fine. good #2 if you have an ace. if you have a catcher with decent PC i wouldn't worry bout those other 2 pitches much.

his gb/fb is high which i like but in a stadium like portland that doesn't factor in as much as in a hitters parks. i would however put some good D in the infiled (this coming from a guy that doesn't belive in D that much) unless all your other guys have a low gb/fb which then you obviously need a rangy OF.

Agree. Borderline #1, could make a few All-Star teams. End of season or not, you shouldn't get this guy for $6M. Nice signing.

With Moya, the key is letting him fully develop. If that second pitch is below 70, then he will probably struggle as a MLB SP.

As for Alou, that vR is very low. Even if he hits his projection, he's going to struggle. And Maranon only has one quality pitch, so I wonder whether he can be successful, especially with the so-so GB.

It seems like you stress pitches over splits. While you need both to be an ace, I tend to favor splits over pitches (for SP, anyway...all bets are off for RP where you neeeed quality pitches).

Normally im HUGE on splits, but playing in Portland I have noticed that lower splits wont hurt me as much as in another park.

But thanks for the input guys!

There have been a TOOOOONNNNNN of high quality IFAs this season. While many of the early ones rightfully went for 10+ mil, there's only so much to go around and thus several great bargins late in the year as high quality prospects keep coming in.

Just counted them, and there have been 12 75+ overall IFA signed, plus 2 waiting to sign, plus a couple real solid relievers w/ obviously lower overalls, but certainly worth some coin. Draft was very solid as well

In Portland with a high PC catcher, Moya will be a Cy Young contender. Dave Wilkinson is a lot like Moya, if anything Moya will be better. If he gets to those projections and you use a high PC catcher (I use 89PC for Wilkinson) hell be an ace.
