And why would I battle him when he isn't going after the players I had targeted anyway?
Moy's Battle Cry!!!!

Actually - the problem is not battling higher prestiges... Its that most coaches just flat out stay away and make it way to easy for A prestiges to recruit (and carry over cash). Check out my Illinois team.... just landed the #1,5,12, and 36 overall rated recruits with 50k over. Not one coach challenged me. Now I have 4 top recruits and about 12k in carry over cash to do the same next season.

I respect a coach that makes a recruiting sacrifice to let the higher prestige know he will fight the losing battle. I've done it at GT to defend top recruits in my backyard. Hopefully it makes that higher prestige think twice in future seasons about going after your locals... or other coaches will catch on to the recruiting battle and try to snag that higher prestige's recruits. Now that said - sometimes its just plain stupidity to fight just to fight and lose. pick your battles.

More to this end. I just had my recruiting season salvaged, after a kid I put money into earlier on dropped back to me, as LSU signed its alloment of schollies, and this kid was holding the bag. I don't even remember if he was ever considering me prior to losing his LSU schollie (I think he did briefly but then I was knocked off), but I had dumped money into him in the 1st cycle, and backed off when LSU, its A- prestige, and all its SEC money came in, and I was no longer considered.

Long story short/moral of the story - Its good to put money in on solid recruits (even if short of a full out battle), as you never know if a big-time school may take their interest elsewhere, and you can end up signing a solid recruit.

Or something...

That is totally awesome. I went to back to back title games in Crum, winning the first year and then losing the 2nd and I thought I was the bees knees and still do, lol. However, to go to 3 in a row, is incredible and deserves an absolute salute.
