Do IFA ever drop their demands? Topic

As the season rolls down, will an IFA ever drop his demands in hopes of getting signed? ie, you've got a kid out there that initially demanded a millon plus, but your sitting there w/ only 500k to spend. Will that kid's asking price ever come down, or will he just stay on a millon dollar request and fade away from the world if he's not signed?

Thanks,

I don't think so, but I'll be interested to see if anyone thinks otherwise. The only change I'm aware of is that an unsigned IFA will be seen by more teams the longer he's out there.

A ticket to WIS would be the best way to get an answer.

Don't know about int'ls, but you can occasionally sign an amateur draft choice for less than his asking price, even less than slot.

I don't think IFAs ever drop demands. I tested one today in majors. We are just starting round 2 of playoffs and only the scrub IFAs are . I have extra dough so offered $300K to a guy asking $390K. He's got no chance at ML and if I don't sign him he's likely to go unsigned. He refused "your offer has not met my demands." Small sample size but confirmed what I think I've tried before.

Just last season, I had a little bit of prospect money during the playoffs. So as an experiment I made an offer to one of the 50k scrubs that gushes about how much he wants to play in this country. My offer for $49,999 was rejected with the same not meeting his demands message. I guess he didn't want to come to the US that badly.

I frequently get a lot of my draftees to sign for less than slot price. In fact, during my most recent draft, my 1st-rounder signed for less than the 2 picks following him.

As far as int'ls, I agree with the others, I don't believe they will ever lower their demands, because if they don't sign, they'll just continue to play for their Dominican HBD team.

I routinely offer my draft picks 10% less than they are asking for. Most will sign for that. Those that don't, I up the offer 5% and then they almost always sign. I never offer their initial demands any more.
