4 Out Save Setting Topic

I dont know if this has been addressed or not but I think it would be nice to have the option to bring in a guy for a 4 out save. The majority of us have our closers coming in the 9th inning because of our settings but I think it would be cool to have an option box to check off where you can bring in a closer for a 4 out save if theres runners in scoring position or something to that degree. Any thoughts?

That goes down as the it would be nice to manage the game batter by batter without having to play the game live. I think it would be tough to get all the settings that we would like in the game.

Why not just make your closer available in the 8th?

That's what I do...

If you have a closer whos stamina is good enough (Id want 30ish), then yeah, just have your closer set to be able to enter in the 8th inning, but in save situations only

But if you did that wouldn't he enter at the start of the 8th? And if so, there's a decent possibility he gets 3 outs in the 8th and has reached his pitch count, ergo, he's not pitching in the 9th which is the inning you REALLY want him in there.

I mean Id only want him in there with 2 outs and runners in scoring position or something to that nature. Hes a 9th inning guy usually, just has the option to come in and get the big out. Its likely just me wanting to micro manage to much...

If you were actually coaching a real game you might make that move.. The individual settings can be endless for example we could ask for a 2 out steal setting. I don't think we can have all the possible situations.

I have a closer thats stamina is borderline for a 2 inning save. I set him for the 8th inning but more than I would like he gets pulled with 2 outs in the 9th inning because he hit his pitch count.

Yeah, that happens a bit... but I'd rather that, and have another RP just have to get one more out (and cherry-pick the save), than let the game get away in the 8th with my best nailed to the bench.

I was not complaining.

Saves (a somewhat useless stat IMO) get spread out all over the place on my teams and my bullpens are pretty adequate. One guy is severely underperforming on one team, but the others (with lesser ratings are picking him up). Ultimately I like to have my better relievers available in high-leverage situations, whether it's in the 6th or the 9th, so I systematically rotate them between Setup A and Setup B without a closer most of the time.

Most of the "blown saves" in my stats are really blown holds because simmy isn't usually going to finish the game with whoever is pitching in the 7th in a crucial spot.

Man....talk about jinxing myself with a post. One of my relievers, who'd saved 12 of 15, came in and gave up a walk-off 3-run homer within 90 minutes of that post......
