Demotion During Playoffs Topic

I promoted a player to the ML during the postseason after my team was eliminated, but now think I'd rather him start in AAA for a variety of reasons. So, if I demote him right now, will he take a demotion hit? Will he be paid the AAA salary next year instead of the ML base salary?

maybe and yes (assuming you keep him on the 40 and he's not arb-eligible)

I have never had a player dump ratings points due to demotion after the conclusion of the regular season. And I shuffle players down extensively after I get knocked out of the playoffs.

I have, so I know it's possible. Could be that a ratings hit is less likely with a post-season demotion, maybe even a lot less likely.

If the guy was a "September call-up" and you demote him before the end of the season I am 99% sure that he does not take a hit. He did not get a bump because of this and I am fairly certain he will not take a hit either.

Demotion penalties are definitely possible in the postseason, as blanch says. "September" call-ups are exempted, so I guess the question is whether a postseason call-up is treated the same as a late-season one. To get the best answer, I'd suggest a ticket to Customer Support, which should give you a 50-50 shot at getting the right answer.

... which is about 48% better than your chances in the forums.
