Arizona State in Phelan starts 11-0, has a top 5 RPI. Beats Stanford at home.

Then proceeds to lose 14 straight games and drop out of post season play.

Never seen this before.

I was just looking over the Pac 10 the other day (since I keep gettin' you guys in the NT) and thought to myself what ever happened to Zona State, they had the #1 RPI for a while...

so i read somewhere the other day that the engine was, essentially, back to normal or OK or whatever now-- the 3 games here against Stanford have to prove the lie in this, right?

Stanford scores 75, 76, and 76. ASU scores 77, 28(!), and 50? So either HCA is worth +/- 25 points a game, or the engine is wacky. nothing you could do with our coach settings could make changes 1/2 as drastic as those scores...

I've seen a whole lot of results lately that would lead me to believe that the engine is far from being back to normal.

In fact, a couple of days ago my Post team in D2 Rupp gave up a grand total of three points in the first half of the game.

In Tark, in our Pac-10 CT recently, two very evenly matched teams who both run the press had a free throw disparity of 25-0.

In Phelan, my D2 Assumption team, who had won at home against Bryant by 20 points, was down by 37 in the second half in the rematch. This from a team that has been in the top 5 of the rankings and RPI all season, along with having all A or A+ IQ's in both the offense and defense. The list goes on and on......

I really love this game and have been playing for a few years now, but the results I see, based on the ratings of the players and teams involved, have become a joke. No result surprises me anymore.

Teams that are far inferior pull entirely too many upsets, slowdown tempo is much too effective, teams with horrible defensive ratings are too good at shutting down quality teams (recruit a bunch of track stars and you're golden), teams with bad IQ's don't get punished like they should, teams manage to win and win big with only one or two players shooting the ball (talk about a glitchy way to win), individual players who should dominate go into a "senior slump"...........well, you get the point.

I really hope this new engine is significantly better, because I'd hate to have to find a new hobby at this point!
