we can go back and forth on this forever. generally speaking, a good world will have a commish take care of this when it comes up. done.

I called the guy out on the public chat board because it ****** me off that the other owners that were crushing him every game didn't say anything, which is pretty lame if you ask me.

If asked, I'd say the same thing.

There's nothing wrong with an owner whose real-life commitments occasionally get in the way of managing his fake baseball teams for a few days, but there's a lot wrong with other owners keeping quiet about the problem and racking up easy wins on a fatigued staff.

If you notice something wrong, speak up. That's the only way to maintain league quality.

I'm in the division, and I hadn't noticed. I hadn't played them since the second week of the season, and though I check my team every day, I certainly don't have time to keep tabs on other teams.

I also read all of my boxscores, but never my opponents. Although if I score more than 15, I'll usually check their pitchers to see if my hitters were really hitting, or if their pitchers were exhausted.

I have to admit, I wondered how his team went from around .600 to .350 in one season, but he had mentioned injuries at one point, and I never looked in at his staff.

And it's not like he was giving up 20 runs a game every day. In the approximately 60 games that he's had some fatigue problems, he's given up over 10 runs 19 times and over 20 runs only twice. In HBD you're probably going to give up over 10 runs about 7-10 times in 60 games anyway, so he's not getting completely trampled.

Also, he's now doing his best to rectify the situation.

It is funny you called this post "HBD Etiquette", since the first line of your post in the world chat is "Wow, you guys are bush league".

Zero stamina at the minor league levels irritates. me. Makes it hard to evaluate prospects and just messes up the realism. I'll send out a general chat but I don't call anyone out. Out biggest abuser is our commisioner so he's of no help. Loves to under populate his rosters to save every payroll dime.

It should be noted that everyone doesn't read every box score. I generally don't check them in one of two situations: 1. We're losing. I'm ******, irritated and annoyed. I don't want to know how we lost another one. 2. We're winning. Maybe I didn't check the box the game before and, not wanting to tempt fate, I won't check again until we lose.

It's unlikely that this happened for 40 games but owners can miss every box from a series. It's also possible that the owners in question are non-confrontational. Maybe they sent a TC to the offending owner and got a big "FU" in return.

Well the guys staff was not even close to having everyone at 0% from the 18th so mal has a bit of a credibility issue here.

In the 39 games from the 18th to the 29th he gave up 10 or more runs 10 times, not good but frankly in some of those games it was pitchers at 100% who gave up many of the runs and lots of staffs run out tired mop up pitchers. Hell my staff gave up 10 or more 10 times in the same period and nobody pitched tired, they just suck.

He also gave up 4 or fewer runs 14 times in that period. and went 12-17.

The issue is how you react and "call people out" If you come onto the chat like a bull in a china shop saying the whole league is bush league and you won't be back you should expect to be admonished.

I have a question about the fairness of the action being taken. Is it really "fair" (meaning even playing field for each owner) to post a message on the public forum after you take a zeroed-out staff like that for 7 wins? It seems to me that the fair thing to do is to let every owner take a shot at the guy who is out of town.

Please understand... I am not saying that I would do it this way, and I am not saying that it is right or even ethical. The ethical thing to do would be to mention something if and when you see a problem directly to the offending owner, right? Follow that with a note to commish if you are ignored. But how is this type of after-the-fact reporting "fair"?

Is it possible that in good leagues, owners let other owners run their teams the way they see fit. All is fair, unless collusion is obvious. That seems to be more fun that having to deal with the morality police questioning whether or not you check your opponents fatigue levels daily.

Some people really take their fake baseball player leagues with a $30 investment for three months of entertainment way too seriously. Or, maybe those are the "good" leagues. Hmmm. I'll pass.

It is what it is. People that dont want a lot of rules play in public leagues.

Private leagues are for the people who do take it a little more seriously and say so to begin with. Theres a responsibility that goes along with joining those leagues and if you don't cut it, then you get replaced.

Theres room for everyone to play in leagues with rules to their liking. Some people make entire leagues for themselves and some others attempt to. ;)

One more thing. The world chat is a public forum. No one should be crying about getting "called out" in the WC. Same thing here. Can't handle public forums? Maybe the internet is NOT for you.
