Last season I had two pitchers tell me they were going to test the FA market the following season and chose not to resign with me throughout the whole year.

We have just rolled over to the next season and are currently distributing budgets. From both guys I'm getting the "Let's be honest, I'll play for whoever shows me the most money" message. Does this mean that they'll resign with me during the resign FA period? Or are they still headed for free agency? Thanks for your help.

they always say that before budgets are set. when resign FA hits they'll either change their tune or luckily be willing to sign. you won't know till then.

My two best, both type A, chose free agency.

Could use some more input on this issue if anyone has faced a similar situation.

If they are rated above 75, then expect them to test free agency. That's the safest bet you can make.

Once they won't resign with you during the season, I've never seen them change their mind. They always go FA.

That means that the player will test free agency. He is saying he is going to play for the highest bidder.

A player that will resign without testing free agency will say

"I am willing to stay, just make me a offer."
