I used to be real active in HD (owned around 5 teams at one time) and am coming back after around a year off. Seems like the DIII and DII worlds have been decimated. I took back my old DII team in Iba, and the conference has 4 human owners. Back in the day, we would have 1 or 2 sim ai teams in a down year. It seems like the lower tier DI conferences are also somewhat empty.

Has there been any discussion about just eliminating DIII and DII? Let new players start with crappy DI schools and move up from there. We have 10 worlds already. I just can't imagine a new player getting into the game when they would be forced to start in a DIII conference with one or two human owners.

I'd rather see WIS reduce the number of worlds by a few, although that would be tough to do given that some users have established programs in other, less competitive worlds.

Reducing the number of worlds isn't going to happen. What WIS needs to do is increase their marketing of the site, there is only so much that us users can do to bring new coaches in.

I just came back and was also shocked at the decrease of D3 teams, and D2 now that I look.

I also and came back. Potential has killed the game at all levels in my opinion. I will move on to my alma mater in DII and just stay there for the rest of my coaching career. I did miss the fix of looking at the game scores each morning...sorta like coffee, ya know?

I had been off so long, I didnt even know about potential until after the recruiting period had ended.

Something needs to be changed - I think HD is going to die off otherwise.

DIII hoops in the Wooden World is by far the best HD experience I've ever had. It's competitive, friendly, interesting, and there is tons and tons of interaction between top coaches and the top conferences. What you guys are talking about here just doesn't make sense to me.

Additionally, there was a mass movement of top coaches to Rupp DII two seasons ago, with the idea being to create the best and most competitive HD experience ever. It's too early to say whether and to what extent this has succeeded, but it is proof that there is more going on at DII and DIII than you guys know about.

You might want to consider changing worlds.

I've been slogging through boring DIII seasons to find DII conferences with a decent amount of human owners, and it's been pretty enjoyable for me. I do agree that DIII seems miserable right now, though.
