Do many of you Guys/Gals use 3 guards instead of a small forward? If so, how does it seem to work out?

You have to find the right guard that can rebound somewhat - I usually try to find a sf that is more built like a guard.

SF: Athleticism/Speed, Rebounding, Perimeter, Work Ethic, FT%, Defense, Stamina, Ball Handling/Passing/Low Post

That is more or less how I recruit my sf's.

Playing a SG at SF has been working pretty well for me lately. I like the player to have REB of at least 20, but it's best if they have REB in the 30s or 40s.

I also use zhawk's method, but find that the SF playing SG tends to have turnover problems. But that can be offset somewhat by the REB advantage you usually gain.

sg at the sf position good against the press and to lesser extent zone.

Virtually exclusively in the lower divisions because you can find big men with high enough rebounding to offset the SG having low reb. And SGs pawn most SF trying to guard them because of the better Ath/Spd/BH.

I just won the DIII Naismith title using 3 guards

Yeah, I've done this a couple of time. As previously noted, it helps if you can find an SG with some type of rebounding skills-- although this tends not be as big an issue in DIII given that most of the SFs can't rebound anyway.

It can be done, even in D1, but you need guards that can rebound. Play a PG and SG with 1 rebounding with a SG with a 25 reb and you are toast. If the 3 guards sum rebounding to about 50 at D3, 70 at D2 and maybe 90 at D1 you'll be fine, assuming your PF/C can rebound

I'm playing three guards right now, though it's in large part because I lost the guy early who would've started at sf. But my sg @ sf has a 58 reb and my actual sg is a 47, so that's huge.

I'm currently running 3 guards with my stonehill team that went to the final 4 last season. I believe that my 3 guards had a combined reb rating of 60 and reb was never a huge issue for us. Just make sure your bigs and athletic and can rebound and you'll do fine.
