So your then still hoping to get rid of 27 owners?

I'm hoping to get rid of how ever many need to be gotten rid of. I didn't make up the 27 number, someone else did. Admin hasn't told us how many. I would guess at least 4 and as many as 8.

Is that 4 people but 8 teams or 8 people with 16 teams.

I sent in a ticket involving a specific lopsided trade. And asked for specific explanations involving one specific owner. We'll see what comes of it.

I am referring to the number of teams. Admin will never confirm the number of people.

I see it as a challenge. Many owners don't like things, but don't want to get involved in the world chat or really in anything...they just want to play the game. Really, that's what everybody wants, but I want to do it on a more level playing field. I guess I could leave it alone as the cheating world, but now I've invested $50 and a lot of my time in changing the way things are done...and it's finally having some results. I'd hate to give up now.

I think I'm going to have to do what mike said and take the time to send admin every questionable event in the league to show disturbing patterns. I'm still debating a public discussion on each owner, but admin is now deleting my posts because they don't like being called out.

Put 'em in this thread. Plain and simple, if you get the ball rolling, others will join your witch hunt. And, just because you're on a witch hunt, that doesn't mean there aren't witches. You might find one. But, if you see a pattern between two owners, people in other worlds will look. Might even find two witches.

Here's the biggest problem with 'tarded up worlds:

N00bs don't know. So they join their world, unwrap their present and get all excited about playing the game. Then things get funky. N00b gets frustrated, abandons his team or plays it out in hopes of finding enjoyment, and disappears into the night to never be heard from again.

Makes it hard to bring new members into the game.

How in the world do you fix that? I guess all I can think of is forcing all new owners into "new owner" worlds. Everyone plays two-three seasons with other "new owners" at a discounted rate (1/2 price) before they are kicked out and given a list of leagues to join. Isn't that how all of us started in the first place? You get newbies all together where collectively they learn at the same rate, hook them on the addiction and allow them to make an informed decision if they want to continue with a long-term team

I'm not sure. You'll still get jerk-off aliases who'll join and F it up for everyone. It's sad to say but WifS might be well-served to create 4-5 "n00b" worlds and put a half dozen mentor-types in each of them to monitor the goings-on. Any ticket sent by a mentor concerning that world gets top priority. Give the mentors the ability to unanimously veto any deal just in case an alias tries to get in. Allow each n00b to stay 1-2 seasons and then force them move on. Make it perfectly clear to them that this is a training ground so they won't get all bent out of shape when they can't play S3. Maybe even make it an abbreviated season(100 games so fatigue will play a part).

I was going to ask how do you get mentors who would actually do that, but if I was given a free team or two for every mentor season, I would probably consider it. It would probably make sense to dumb down some of the features as well...maybe no rule 5 draft or just AAA without all the other lower leagues.
11/24/2009 8:32 AM
The mentors would play in that world for free. Maybe give 'em $5 credits for each season. Or something. I don't think WifS wants to create a situation where mentoring is a cash cow for a member. Greed is a bad thing. And WifS is loaded with greedy members.
11/24/2009 8:39 AM
And I'd have the rule 5 draft since it's a training ground. Don't know that I'd run full minors. Maybe a low minor/high minor situation so the n00bs would have three levels.

The only drawback I see in this idea is that it opens up the door for questionable mentors looking at this as a place where they can completely dominate n00bs. How do you prevent that?

She turned me into a newt!

I got better.

Don't use questionable mentors. Maybe even force them to take the worst previous season teams each season.

FWIW, if one of the mentors sees another n00b-raping, report it on the ticket hotline. WifS removes him. Problem solved.

Mike, I love that idea. The other thing it would do is force someone to wait several months before a newly created alias could join a real World. Let people play them for free, with no prizes. Or give them a few credits for prizes, but not enough to buy anything without paying for seasons to win more credits, but no credits for mentors.

On the other hand, when I got here new, I took the time to find a couple of vets to work as mentor for me (including Mike, and thank you very much for the help, bud). I didn't really need to be in a training or remedial league. I just needed a few pointers. So maybe if vets would just, you know, reach out to the new guys and OFFER to be of assistance, this would be less of a problem.

By the way, just to be clear, I'd be in a World with Hart, Hatt, or Grissom any time based on my WC reading from the World in question. I just don't understand why it is SOOO important to change this particular World. Rename it Tardville and let them have it.

One last point about this World- the Commish only has 7 seasons of experience. Think that might have anything to do with this?

Maybe the devs can add the ability to send a wink or a hug to other users while they're at it. Sounds like a great use of their time.
