I posted a thread a few seasons ago when I reached 25 straight conference regular season wins. A few of you posted some far more impressive (at the time) streaks. I have managed to improve upon that streak to 110 games going into night, where I face a real threat in an improved Roger Williams team. So I'm taking wagers...........does the streak continue or does Paul and his surging Roger Williams team take me down?

i wish i could see the history and the roster , etc.

but, 110 straight wins?

i dont care if every single win was against a simmy, and salve was a 20point favorite in every game.... 110 is ALOT.

being able to avoid the u[set bug for that long is amazing.

i am in a somewhat similar situation and om on a 37 game win streak.. but i would be shocked if i could get to 50 or 60, let alone 100+.

looking back, i have never had 3 straight 16-0 seasons, so never have reached 50straight.

and, i cant say for sure, but i believe that i have been favored to win in something close to 200 conference games, and maybe more than that.

during that 12+ seasons, we have lost 11 games.

i would guess that there have been about 35 or 40 games out of those 200 where the point spread would have been less than 10 (assuming about 3 games per season)

Im not sure how many, but i would say that maybe 10 or 15 times (about once per season) the spread has been only two or three points, whihc is essentially pickem.

not sure how many times i have lost when i was a double digit favorite. my guess would be two or three times. maybe four at the most.

but, to eliminate every single loss for seven plus seasons? crazy.

hats off , eric

fyi,

the team i refer to is oneonta- iba in the sunyac (team ID 6775)

i currnetly have two humans in my conf. one in my division, one on the other.

we have been that way for about 3-4 seasons i think.

averaged out over the past 12 years, we have had an average of 3 other humans per year (other than the three of us) for a total of 6 humans.

however, we have not had a real strong rival (though both of the other humans are improving and now at the level of making the PIT nearly every season)

Here is what we have had over the past 12 seasons (not including oneonta)

14 PIT

4 at large NT teams

3 CT champs (other than oneonta)

of the 3 CT entries, only one was a fluke team (12-19 with 200+rpi) the other two had rpis around 40.

so, lets say 14 PIT teams and 6 nt quality teams.

makes me think my numbers above are a little off as most non-PIT teams would tend to be 10+ point underdogs to my squad, unless we were in a a down year (we only had one or two years out of the twelve where we werent a legit sweet16 team... either we actually made it that far in the NT, or we re the victim of a big upset in the early rounds)

that would make me think that there may have been only 20-25 games where we were less than a 10 point favorite. (instead of 35-40)

and more likely to be a total of only 6 or 8 games where the spread was only 2-3 (instead of 10-15)

not sure what all that means, other than emphasizing that my scheudle was prolly a bit easier than i had thought, and still i am losing about a game per year.

would be interested to compare these numbers to Salve's and see how many tough games they may have had (how many NT and PIT opponents ahve they had? how many humans have they played? etc)

in any event, an awesome feat

i predict the streak lives on

I think you live on thru the night... your slightly better IQ's and experience, plus the home cookin should help you run the string to 115 or so... BUT, I predict you drop a random game prior to the rematch in which I believe he then wins as well. My prediction is 14-2 simply due to the fact the numbers seem to eventually catch up... Good luck

hmmm, i somehow did not think that the screenname "ericbfor3" had a salve regina team when i first looked. musta messed up, cuase i see it is there.

i tried finding all his confmates by looking at the team ids around salve's. but only found 9 or ten teams (unless i screwd up again)

of the ones i found, paul has captained the RW team the whole time, but has only recently been decent.

RW won the CT last season and was prolly a PIT team other wise.

and i only found one other PIT team.

but i dont think i found nearly enough division championshops and clearly someone had to be winning the other divsion. so perhaps one of those other teams i didnt find have been pretty good.

i found it interesting that eric has dominated to this level with teams that are consistently good, but not great by national standards. in fact, while perhaps some is attributed to bad luck, eric's national record has been , well, not very good. only made it past the second round twice in the past 8 years. not trying to hate on salve, just trying to get a good picture.

i will say again, regardless of any of this, regardless of what they did in the NT, etc, ...... this 110 game streaek is impressive as hell.

it will be interesting to see if he can keep it going

110?

6 full seasons= 96

plus one this year = 97

so that means we are counting 13 wins from season 028.

does that mean that Salve started the 028 conf season 0-3 and then proceeded to rip off this unprecedented string of W's?

salve won by 14. - 111 conf wins in row.

Very impressive!

On the other side of the coin, Springfield (Naismith DIII) of the Penn. Conference once finished 0-27 four consecutive years plus seven more losses, for a total of 115

Yes, Dave if you can believe it. I actually started the streak after starting conference play 0-3 (lost 3 nailbiters in a row) many seasons ago.

Anyway, I agree that this year is the season that the streak comes to an end. Playing Roger Williams at their place will be challenging and of course, there is the random "clunker game" that you always need to be aware of.
