OK, I'm trying to do a transaction with one of my mop-up men -
Christopher Neagle.
When I try to assign him to the ML roster, I get this error message:
"Christopher Neagle may not be assigned back to the big league team since he was designated for assignment. You may trade him, release him, or assign him to a minor league club if he clears waivers and accepts the demotion."
OK, seems simple enough. He's cleared waivers, so I figure I'll assign him to AAA, then promote him back up (I'm not worried about whether he "Accepts" the demotion, since he's done so a number of times this season already).
But, when I try to assign him to the AAA roster, I get this message:
"Christopher Neagle may only be assigned to the big league team due to his current contract and option status."
He has no options, so I thought maybe something funny was going on with his WW status (even though it says cleared) so I then try to waive him (with the intention of demoting him to AAA if he clears again).
When I try to waive him, I get this message:
"Christopher Neagle is either on the waiver wire, has already failed to clear waivers, or has already cleared waivers. There is no point to waive him again."
Now I've no clue what to do with the guy, so I check to see if I can designate him again (and clear up whatever the issue is) and get this message:
"Christopher Neagle is not currently assigned to a team. He must be assigned to a team before he can be involved in this type of move."
Which would be great if I could assign him to a team but, of course, I cannot.
So what's ? I can only try to trade him (no one will want him, he sucks) before he is auto-released? Am I missing something?
