I have played against a couple of teams that has played a1 (pg) at the 3 (sf) position. One was a sim team the other was a human coached team. This is at Div III, anyone have success with this before? Can you move a player two spots away from their normal position and be successful?

Definitely, if he has the ratings for it. Consider it this way: If he is clearly superior in ratings to whoever would otherwise be there, he'll still be superior in ratings even playing out of position.

agreed. i at times play PGs at SF in DIII and it has worked out well.

i have done it quite often, one of my best players on a team that won 3 titles while he played, was a pg at sf, in d3, I am not a big fan of it in d1, mostly because more suitable sf's can be found in d1
