Free throws and Athleticism Topic

Perhaps I'm imagining it. . .but on my teams at least, I seem to notice that every year the players I have that shoot the most free throws - at any position, not just the posts - are the ones with a high atheleticism. Am I imagining this? For example, I posted against that 'Pierce' guy earlier, who has a high athleticism and little else. . .but the one thing he does seeem to do is shoot allot of free throws in his time on the court. And he has a low(Read almost nonexistant) distribution. So on a per minute and per play basis, he gets allot more free throw attempts than I might expect. Is a good athleticism perhaps "Still being stong enough to get the shot up" or something?

Perfectly aware it might be a figment of my imagination, but. . .

It's funny, I feel that ath should actually have more of an impact in getting to the ft line.

Even looking at Pierce on your squad:

He has comparable fg attempts and min/game (a few less, but nothing dramatic) to Rollings and Wilkes, and just about the same # of ft attempts as well, despite a huge advantage in ath. And the same ft attempts as Burks with double the fg attempts.

But in general, yes, guys with good ath should draw more fouls (unless you have them set to take a lot of 3p's). They'll have the ability to slash/finish in the lane, and less ath defenders will tend to foul them. (Look at tonight's game ... your opponent's sg was extremely unathetlic and Pierce had a season high in ft attempts.)

THanks. That game last night was what brought about the question.

He mainly gets junk time minutes and overflow minutes at four positions(Yes, I have to put him on the depth chart at power forward because one of my doofus posts got himself inelligible over 25 minutes of study hall)

Just curious, would a player like him(Limited speed, high atheleticism) Do better witha minus setting to try to let him get inside and bang around a bit? I realize he isn't that good, but I still want him to be as good as her CAN be.

Then again, while not great, a 38 percent three percentage isn't TERRIBLE, and I do need some outside shooting. . .what amazes me is the amount of threes he is jacking up even set to a -1.

Yes, I'd absolutely have him at a minus setting -- as much or more for his low pe as for his high ath.

And when looking at his current 3pt %, you've gotta remember it's a tiny sample size. Turn four of those makes into misses, and all of the sudden he's at 27%.

Well, he said it was at minus one, would you cut of the stream completely at -2?
