I know how some people feel about these "which recruit?" threads, but I'll throw it out there anyways. I'm looking for a D2 PG that will probably be redshirted his first year, backup the next year, and maybe get some playing time as a RS So.

Both of these SG look similar with respect to BH, P. So it almost seems like a choice between ATH and SPD.

Recruit A
Athleticism 46 High
Speed 60 Average
Defense 49 High
Perimeter 17 Low
Ball Handling 56 High
Passing 65 High

Recruit B
Athleticism 32 Average
Speed 60 High
Defense 19 Average
Perimeter 36 Average
Ball Handling 60 High
Passing 56 High

Any thoughts? I guess I could also just save my $ and take a walk-on.

I like A's defense

Werll, I would provisionally consider A. .but. . .

It would really depend on how you feel about how much perimeter shooting you think your team has/needs. A has enough speed to be a good guard and his combined speed/Ath number is higher.
Also, the distinct potential to get into the mid to upper nineties in passing out of the first guy woudl attract me.

Missing WE and Stamina.

Player B has high potential in speed, I'll take option 2.

B. Will be a solid D2 PG by the time its all said and done. Speed in a PG is way more important than ATH (in my opinion). Defense isn't great, but until they make D ratings correlate correctly in the engine, I wouldn't sweat it.

A would be my choice...The high in Ath and Defense means he could be in the 60s in both by the end of his RS year. Couple that with his high BH and P potential and you could have RS - So. who during that year is ~70 in Ath/Spd, ~70 Defense, and 80s in BH and ~90 in Passing with 2 more years of eligibilty....yes his perimeter will be horrid at 17 but I'd rather have a PG who can distribute the ball and defend than one who can also score but will cause more TOs and allow more plays to happen when he is on D.

If you are a Zone team; perhaps I'd go with B given the lower importance of the Defense attribute; but no other major advantage. Speed is more important for guards but it doesn't mean much if your Ath is only avg.

Also GPA will be a big factor here too, with those high Potentials in BH / P the more practice minutes you have the more you'll get out of that guy early on.

missing O/D, WE, stam, and ft shooting. all v important for pgs.

A no question. Great ath/speed combo with good def/bh/passing. Can't as for anything more out of a point guard.

It would be helpful if he posted the WE and Stamina ratings

Thanks for all the insights.

I suppose I should have added this info at the beginning of the thread that I run Motion/Press.

I ended up with Recruit A. When I this morning (pre-11:00 am cycle) Recruit B was considering me and Recruit A was not. When I got home around 5:00 pm Recruit A had already signed with someone so that made my decision a little easier. I went ahead and signed Recruit B in the next cycle. (I didn't feel like searching for anyone else/putting in much more time.)

Here's the 2 full profiles for those interested. I'd still be curious with others' thoughts (for future reference). I think I ended up with a decent player for down the road.
