For players that can play multiple positions, do the Range and Glove relate to the primary position?

No, it applies to every position.

Don't pay much attention to the position on their player card. Compare their ratings (or projecteds if its a prospect) to the defensive recs to see what position a guy fits at.

Oftentimes either the game itself assigns him a position he'll never be qualified to play at, or the previous owner did. There's no penalty for switching a guy's position.

A player's assigned position mostly functions to give the game an easier time assigning recs and automatically doing your substitutions (and makes it easier for you to glance at a player and see where he should be playing if you're assinging the positions accurately).
