I was wondering, if have a decent prestige in DII, lets say a B, how does that convert over to DI. I assume I will not be qualified for a BCS school that has an opening with a B. Does your prestige automatically decrease when you jump levels? Any thoughts would be welcomed and appreciated. Thanks.

The prestige of your current team doesn't impact the jobs you are qualified for. I just moved up in Allen with these last 4 seasons:

27-6, Elite 8
25-5, 1st Rd
21-8, 1st Rd
18-10, no postseason

and I was only eligible for jobs at D+ or lower in certain conferences.

The team prestige will probably drop at any D1 school you move to. The change in team prestige is based on your coaching prestige which is different than your team prestige and is a value we can't see.

I went from D2 Rockhurst with A+ prestige and a pretty decent resume (5 straight NT appearances: 1 NC game, 1 FF, 1 E8, and 2 S16s) to Yale which was B- and Yale's prestige dropped to C+.

If you had a really high prestige and went to like a D- school I suppose it could move up slightly but I wouldn't count on it.

So likley, a B would end up meaning I'd be looking at a D+ school in most conf and the elite I'd probably stand no chance?

A couple of thoughts:

1) Given that you only have two seasons at DII in that world and only six overall, I would be surprised if you were able to move to DI at all after this season. If you don't make the NT (which is definitely a possibility with a 47 RPI), I would say that you don't have any chance.

2) Assuming that you're eligible, you will definitely move to a school that is lower prestige than the one you're at now. My guess is that with your resume, you'll be lucky to be qualified for a D- school.

This isn't meant to be a harsh reply, just saying that given that you don't have much experience at DII (or overall for that matter) and no tournament berths at DII, I would be very surprised if you were able to move up to DI.

I agree with this. You have a somewhat similar resume to the one I had last season in Wooden and I wasn't qualified for any schools.

It is nearly impossible to move from D2 to one of the power 6 D1 schools. You'd need to win a NT and goto a Fresno State or something.
