With two low work ethic threads going I thought I'd share my current experiences with
Phillip Hurst. He's not a beast but I've been pretty pleased.
I couldn't help myself and gambled on the 7 WE when I discovered he knew my offense and defense. He came to campus with high potential in athleticism, rebounding, defense, low post, shot blocking and stamina. And C-/C for IQ.
I redshirted him to try and get the most out of him. And now one practice away from ending his third season he just hit A- in defensive IQ.
Since coming to campus I've seen the following "improvements":
Athleticism: +10
Speed: +6
Rebounding: +9
Defense: +12
Shot Blocking: +12
Low Post: + 9
Perimeter: -5
Ball Handling: 0 (but been at 1 the entire time with no minutes)
Passing: -19
Work Ethic: +4
Stamina: +10
Flex: C- to B+
Man: C to A-
I think it's very unlikely that this guy is going to end up being a stud. And even if he did, the very slow pace of stamina improvement prevents him from getting the minutes you'd want from a stud. But at the same time I think he's going to be a better starter than a good number of the other D2 teams out there.
Figured it wouldn't hurt to share.
