Playing time & player improvment... Topic

I know that PT and starts increases a players improvment, but how much? All things being equal, if you take two players, one getting 20 minutes but doesnt start and one getting 15 wiht a start, do they improve at the same rate? Does one have a better chance of improving over the other.

What about minutes? Are they "rewarded" much differently for 15 minutes of play vs 16 minutes of play?

This stems from some A-hole I promised a start and 20 minutes to. The problem is that he is out of breath by the time they get done announcing the starting lineups. He is getting 17 minutes and was set as getting tired (I never use that, I only use fairly fresh) and is now set at tired to shut his crybaby butt up about minutes. I couldn't find the shut your fat @ss up button so that's why I'm posting here. Anyway, I was trying to see what result this increase of minutes will bring. Any thoughts?

more turnovers?

and it will help his improvement...I have had to do basically the same thing several times with top recruits...That frosh that plays so much usually ends up being a hoss....so if you can make it through the season you will be better off...

I have two similar PGs that both signed last year. One starts, the other backs him up. They have similar minutes (starter 20.8, backup 19.6). The had similar numbers of "high" vs "avg" potential. The starter and 20.8 min guy went up by ~1 pt more per category on average in his freshman season.

More pt = quicker IQ gain... I make it a point to get my young guys enough pt so they develop correctly.

Starts alone have no impact on skill improvement

Well. Only an indirect impact: Getting starts could improve work ethic, which could improve skill improvement.

That's correct, starts only have an impact on we, not a direct impact on skill improvement. And Z, I think the impact of PT on iq improvement is very minor.
