Type B Comp No More? Topic

I had a pitcher go FA, asking $5M for 1 year. His blurb stated that he was a Type B FA. He went unsigned during the FA signing period. His price has since dropped, but so has the Type B designation. I thought unsigned FAs were supposed to keep their compensations until the amateur draft. Is this only true of Type A's and not Type B's?

he should still be, from what i understand. what if you hover over the "negotiate contract" link on the FA page?

torrone, how far into the season are you? I'm sure you know this already, but once the amateur draft list is posted, the 'types' are dropped. Has that happened in your example?

(It's my only real quibble in this game - the only place where being "first to the trough" can reward an owner).

I thought the same thing happend to me, but I just assumed that I just thought he was and he actually wasn't.

I saw he signed with someone a few days ago and was wishing I had got a pick out of him. I didn't even check until I saw this thread, but I was given a sandwich pick.

I hope it would show if someone was an unsigned Type A.

I believe you'll still see the type A/B designation for FA's from other teams, but not from your own departing FA's after the FA signing period has passed.

Not sure why you cannot see your own. Maybe because, technically, if YOU sign them there is no compensation involved.

We're still in spring training. It did state Type B originally, but it disappeared. But, as someone stated above, it looks like I will get a Comp B if he signs with someone else before the Amateur Draft. Maybe it just dosn't say it for me since I wouldn't get one for resigning my own guy, obviously.

Clarification, not before the amateur draft, but before the amateur draft prospect list comes out.

Is that right?

Correct. Type A/B classifications go away when draft lists are released.
