The collegiate insider recruiting rankings seem to be based on a conglomerate point "total" instead of being based on points per recruit/eligible scholarships. Am I wrong or is this not on a per recruit basis?

The recruiting rankings are just as dumb as the Top 25 rankings.

That, and potential plays no part in them, as far as I can see. And it makes no distinction between transfers and recruits.

Actually they are worse. The top 25 at least comes close.

I'm pretty sure that if all I wanted to do was rank high in the recruiting rankings and wasn't worrying about making the team better, I could game every class into a topish rating.

I believe it is based on a combination of weighted value for each recruit plus the total number of recruits. The more players you recruit, the better your odds of being ranked. But I have also seen teams ranked #1 who have only signed 1 recruit - but that recruit was the #1 overall.

I agree that potential is not a factor at all. Also, it seems signing JUCOs helps tremendously.
