High end Ratings Topic

I've never been quite sure how to determine the difference in high end (90+, 95+) ratings. One of the complaints I read about is how so many of the players at DI eventually are very similar as they peak. My question to some of the more technically superior coaches is, are the ratings still on a bell curve type scale or do they just go up til they hit 100? If it is still on a bell curve wouldn't there actually be a great difference between 100 and 95, 100 and 97 or even 100 and 99 than what it seems to be on the surface or if there isn't a bell curve progression? Is a player who has a 100 speed rating MUCH, MUCH better than one who has a 95? Curious and thanks.

The simple fact that it takes longer to improve from a 99 to a 100 vs. a 69 to a 70, doesn't mean that there is a larger on-court advantage to being a 100 vs. 99 over a 70 vs. 69.

So to answer your question, no, I don't believe that there is a great difference between a 100 and a 97, etc, or even a significantly greater difference than it would seem. I do not know this to be a fact, but nothing that I've ever seen would suggest that it is so.

mpollon, I agree with dalter. And I also agree that we don't really know. Coaches who constantly compare inputs to outcomes should be a great resource of knowledge on this. gillispie immediately comes to mind. What say you, coach_billy?

i have allways assumed that to be these case (what dallty and the others say), BUT...

you may want to sitemail oldresorter and ask his thoughts. I dont think he has ever come out and said it. But some of his comments seemed to imply that maybe he believes in this "theory of increasing differentials" as I like to call it.

in other words, I think that OR may feel that the difference between 95 and 100 is significantly more than the difference between 80 and 85.

OR, if you are reading this, sorry to put words into your mouth, i just thought it was relevant here especially since it seems to be the minority opiniion. if i misunderstoood you.... sorry.
