It is my understanding that when you recruit an ineligible player that they may or may not show up on your campus. They may decide to go Juco instead.

My question is, is there anything that you might be able to do to help insure that he shows up? For instance would letting him know that you plan on redshirting him help? Is redshirting an ineligible even an option or does he automatically lose a year of eligibility?

No, RS'ing an ineligible isn't an option.

There is some conjecture that putting more recruiting effort in may increase the odds of the player showing up. I've seen this tested with mixed results, at best.

Also, there seems to be somewhat of a correlation between how good the player is and how good your school is (i.e. a 4-star ineligible may be more likely to show up at Michigan State then at Eastern Michigan).

seems like there should be a way to tell, as in real life it would seem that a coach could get an answer from a kid most likely that was ineligible
