I've had a ton of head scratching rebound games in the past few seasons. For example I just had this game: http://whatifsports.com/hd/GameResults/BoxScore.aspx?gid=5241446. The team I played started 1 player with a rebound rating over 50, his SF had a 1 reb rating while my starting SF has a 67 reb. Another thing, he played a +1 D I played a -1 so on top of my team having a huge rebounding advantage in ratings the defense we both played also should give me an inherent advantage.

Is this a trend? Do people think rebounding doesn't work quite how it should. I'm not just ******** about a loss, I knew I could lose this game. Just the rebounding thing annoys me and is something that seems to happen a lot.

In general, I do think rebounding works OK. Not a major thing, but defensive +/- has only a very minor effect on rebounding, I don't even take it into consideration when gameplanning.

Only thing I can think of really is that he is at home and out rebounded you on the perimeter. You had +4 I think it was with SF, PF, C area. Thats roughly 8-10% more rebounds just in that area where you have focused on rebounds.

not sure if its any consolation, but i believe the biggest effect of HCA is on rebounding. it seems cases like yours are not as rare as they should be. on neutral court, i agree with dalter, rebounding seems to work pretty well.

Ever had a game where you are out rebounded by 15 and win by 12?

Never really thought HCA affected reboudning so much. I'll pay closer attention to that difference for now on.

i used to think rebounding was one of the things that seemed most accurate, now i see way too many games where the ratings and results seem completely uncorrelated
