Flex, Motion, or Triangle? Topic

Which one should a defensive oriented team go with? I have some good young ball handlers that are freshman this year. I am just wondering which of these offenses would be best suited for them. Since I have 6 Freshman, 1 Sophomore, and 3 Seniors I thought this would be a great time to change since its my first year there.

If you want to check the team out.

I looked through the coaches guides and all that but came across nothing. I have always been Fastbreak/Press so this is going to be my first Man2Man slow it down team.

You also have pretty decent passing skills, the triangle might work, but you wouldn't be utilizing your ball handlers. I really like the flex offense. I've found that my guards can shoot well out of the 2 position. It may be a tad weak on the offensive boards, but don't have any statistical data to back it up. In the flex, there are instances where you're bringing your big men away from the basket, which could be the cause.

Bottom line, you need good players no matter what O/D you run.

Haha ya wizard you said it best as I need good players to win. Any thoughts on the offenses like yours is welcome so I can get a better view of them and why people run them.

Which defense? (EDIT: I mean, Offense) A very good question that I have no answer for. I'm still learning and have no clue what the advantages of the different offenses are.

About all I feel part ways competent to comment on is the "slow down" bit. Since it sounds like your doing a complete overhaul go ahead and recruit (and build) the team for "uptempo". When your youngins have become upperclassmen you will want more possessions when playing against sims or inferior human teams.

In the meantime, especially if you have a LOT of underclassmen, go ahead and start them and go "slowdown" which should give them more game time. Of course how you substitute affects the playing time.

Yup when my offense catches up to the norm I will start running more. Just gotta put the defense first as I am taking a slightly different approach and recruited for the higher defense with the new freshman having high possibilities in the offensive cats.

I'm 3-2 with the Flex, 3-13 with the motion. My guys all have B- or higher with some A-'s on the motion , the Flex all have C- or higher except the frosh.

Piratesfan23, thats for the info but after looking at your schedule that is the problem its not the offense. I bet if you went back to motion you would be fine now. You played - 4 Top 25 teams and mostly high ranked RPI teams as well. But who knows for sure.

I think I am going to hit the Flex up and hope that it leads me to the promised land!

PIrates. . .I really think the better route woudl be sticking with Motion and instead tinkering with distribution, but that is just me.

Your 3 wins with the flex are against RPIs 225, 348, and 383. You won against bad teams.

THe other information. . that 12 - 6 run in the game against me? I had the team playing Fast break late when leading by ten or more because I wanted to gain a little IQ in it for the future. So your Lower IQ Flex was running against my lower IQ fastbreak.
