How many seasons does it normally take at D2 to get to D1?

I've done it in 6, 5, 4, and 2.

It's been awhile, but I think a couple of NT appearances (maybe 2nd round at least) would get you there. You can take a look at some of the teams out there and get an idea.

Others will have more (and more recent) experience to share.

EDIT: colonels, if you're looking at moving with your ID, you need to stay at least 2 more seasons at Armstrong, and likely make the postseason both years, to get any bites. Maybe more...

It depends on your success. Any loyalty hit you take when you jump up a division will be very low, but your loyalty needs to be in the A range to jump to d1, I believe. If you spend a lot of time in D3 though, I think its possible after only a year.

As an example after about 6 seasons in d3, I picked up a C prestige school in d2, had winning, but not great seasons for 3 years, made the nt all 3 years, but never higher than the second round. And after 3 years had only a handful of D- schools listing me as a longshot. After another 20 plus win season and another nt, I had D/D- schools listing me as qualified. My loyalty was A+ both years and my rep was A or A+. I'm sure this would have been faster if I had made a deep run in the nt any of those years. Maybe a general idea for you?

it depends on how well you do, if you make 3 nts in 4 years or back to back with a good season, you can get a decent job. i don't know what it takes to just squeak in, maybe 2 1st round appearances in 2-4 years? 2 pits and a nt?

I did it in 2 years, but I made the sweet 16 both of them at D2 and had been pretty successful at D3 before that.
